Easter

We had a great Easter weekend. It started off at Pizza Ranch on Friday night with Adam and Anna. They announced that they are having a little girl and Emma is excited to meet her first girl cousin in September! Saturday we celebrated Easter at Tom and Laila's and the rest of the Messerly family. Lots of yummy food and an easter egg hunt for all. Sunday was spent at church rejoicing in the resurrection of Christ and then resting at home.

The weather is supposed to warm up and we are very excited about that. Many rainy days have kept us indoors trying to keep busy. I have posted some pictures of our indoor adventures.

Hunting eggs

Emma's color was pink and she was very happy about that.

She loved every minute, excited about every egg she found.

Another try

I think we're done at this point.

More pots and pans. Stuck this time.

Miss Imagination playing vet to her sick duck.

I don't know how the bottle warmer helps??

She claims the medicine spoon is her magnifying glass. Very creative.

This is what happens when you have an older sister.

He has even learned how to brush his hair (the little bit that he has.)

Minnesota Weekend

We were able to spend a long weekend up north last weekend. The occasion was a welcome home party for Ethan's cousin Andrew who returned from Afghanistan. It was a fun weekend spent hanging out with the McLeans who we hadn't seen for awhile. We stayed at a hotel Sunday night and made a trip to Ikea and Mall of America on Monday. It was a nice little road trip and we all enjoyed getting away for a weekend!

Packed and ready to go

Wedding Weekend

I had a fabulous time last weekend! The kids and I drove up on Thursday where I met the girls for a mani/pedi and then had dinner with all of the bridesmaids. Friday was rehearsal and bowling with the girls. Saturday was the big wedding day and it was beautiful! We got to watch them open their gifts on Sunday and then headed home to unpack and recover from all of the fun.

Kyli was a stunning bride and she and Rex looked so happy to be married. Rachel did a fabulous job singing and with her speech. There were lots of tears shed but everyone survived the ceremony. I was so relieved that Emma fulfilled her role as flower girl and did a great job. She really enjoyed the dance and I don't think she left the stage all night. The newlyweds are honeymooning in Maui this week and we hope they are having a great time! Here are a few pictures that I took and if you want to see some of their pictures taken by Rebekah go to her blog.

Emma quotes

Here are a few of my latest favorite lines from our almost four year old:

"Is it so hard being a mommy? You have to go to work, then clean up the dishes, then do the laundry..."
(How sweet that she realizes this already!)

"Daddy, this movie is blu ray. That means it's high definition."
(This can only mean that she has watched too many movies and pays too much attention to the advertising.)

"Mom, I have a little emergency in here."
(Emergency=a juice spill.)

"I suspect this is a picture of me with three princesses."
(Looking at her Florida scrapbook.)

She had me cracking up one day and I asked her where she came from. She replied, "A small country called Norwalk."

I walked into the kitchen after getting home from work to find a pot of water on the stove, a strainer in the sink, and pasta and Prego on the counter. She then informed me that she we were having spaghetti for supper. Maybe I'll have my own personal chef before long!

Her brother doesn't share her vocabulary yet but he has learned to say hi. While I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop, he'll crawl up, peek his little face around the screen and say in a high-pitched voice,"hiiiiii" until I look at him. His big grin makes me smile every time.

I am thankful that these two give me a reason to smile even on the most stressful and discouraging days!
